Dear Students
Further to my email to you all yesterday, here is another reminder that all unnamed lost items will be either donated or disposed of by Friday after school, i.e. 4pm on 27th March. So please check it out at the Reception or the Canteen if you have lost something recently.
Thanks!
Represent STC in the exciting ESF Chef Junior Competition and show off your culinary skills.

Calling all Junior Food Enthusiasts!
Our annual STC chef competition is happening again. This year, we are focusing on the theme of: Fire and Ice Duo.
This year's Challenge:
Create two complementary items - one warm or hot dish to evoke the fire theme, and one cool accompaniment to demonstrate balance and contrast. (Main + Dessert or Main + Side/Appetiser)
This is a team challenge. You can choose a partner from STC Y7-9 to complete the challenge together.
Requirement: You and your partner will create the dish at home (you need to take a time-lapse video), and take photos of your final dishes beautifully presented.
You will need to fill in this form and submit the final dishes + time-lapse video there.
Submission Deadline: May 15th, 2026
Announcement: May 29th, 2026
The selected pair will compete in our annual ESF Chef event against other junior chefs from other ESF schools.
Additional Information for the Competition:
Example Dishes:
Fire dish - Chicken Tikka Masala (using spices + toasting spices)
Ice Dish - Masala Chai ice cream sandwiched between gingerbread cookies.
Suggestion:
Focus on Simpler techniques, introducing fiery flavours gently.
Possible techniques: Stir-frying on high heat, griddling, roasting, toasting spices, caramelisation, and charring vegetables under a grill or on a hot pan - other "fiery" techniques are welcome.
FIERY INGREDIENTS SUGGESTIONS
Mild: Ginger, black pepper, paprika, mustard, white pepper, spring onion etc.
Medium: Fresh green chilli, chipotle, cayenne, horseradish, wasabi etc.
Hot: Szechuan pepper, bird's eye chilli, habanero, fresh red chilli etc.
Considerations:
Presentation should reflect the fire theme through colours, plating, and garnishes
Flavour balance - heat should enhance, not overwhelm
Creativity and storytelling
Technical skill appropriate to the age group
